Virtual counselling for folks in British Columbia

My name is Mel (they/them) and I am registered with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (RCC) with a Master’s in Counselling Psychology from Simon Fraser University.

In case you would like to know more about me to feel comfortable, I am a queer, trans non-binary, and Canadian born to Greek immigrants. I have lived experiences as a child in a non-English speaking household, as a caregiver for older family members, and as a person questioning and exploring sexual and gender identity.

As a counsellor, I believe that mental health means being able to bring our entire selves to whatever we endeavour. We start to feel unwell when we need to compartmentalize, reduce, or completely hide parts of ourselves. As such, I aim to uncover and understand the various parts of identity, their histories, and what gets in the way of expression and thriving.

I am here to help make sense of the complexity and to recognize your strengths, needs, and resources so that you feel you can keep going, grow from your hardships, and ultimately heal. My approach is to walk alongside in the direction that you wish to go, by offering a client-centered and trauma-aware process with elements of emotionally focused individual therapy (EFIT) and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT).
